Inspirational Thoughts About Altruism

We would all love to be more selfless. There are obvious benefits in helping others, from reciprocity to being aligned with our values to simply feeling good.
Unfortunately, in the midst of day to day life, stress and competition can make it easy to forget how important it is to be altruistic. The following inspirational quotes can serve to remind us as to why altruism is so important.
------------------------------------------------------

“A day wasted on others is not wasted on one’s self.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

“I slept and I dreamed that life is all joy. I woke and I saw that life is all service. I served and I saw that service is joy.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

“When you are able to shift your inner awareness to how you can serve others, and when you make this the central focus of your life, you will then be in a position to know true miracles in your progress toward prosperity.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Practice kindness all day to everybody and you will realize you’re already in heaven now.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Love only grows by sharing. You can only have more for yourself by giving it away to others.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Let us try to teach generosity and altruism, because we are born selfish. Let us understand what our own selfish genes are up to, because we may then at least have the chance to upset their designs, something that no other species has ever aspired to do.”

SRK: My prayers, thoughts and love to those affected by Amphan

Mumbai, May 22 (IANS) Bollywood superstar and West Bengal brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan has expressed concern for those affected by the super cyclone Amphan which has devastated the state, and also affected parts of Odisha.
“My prayers, thoughts and love to those affected by the devastation caused by cyclone Amphan in Bengal and Odisha. The news has left me feeling hollow. Each and everyone of them is my own. Other Bollywood celebrities have also expressed their concern for the residents of cyclone-affected areas on social media.
Super cyclone Amphan made its landfall in West Bengal on Wednesday afternoon and caused severe damages in various parts of the state with a wind speed ranging from 155 kmph to 185 kmph, accompanied by heavy rainfall. At least 80 people have lost their lives due to the cyclone, as per sources.
Electricity is yet to resume in many areas since Wednesday. Drinking water has also become a problem.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kolkata on Friday morning. After conducting an aerial survey, the Prime Minister announced a Rs 1,000 crore relief package for the state.

Coronavirus | The story of India’s largest COVID-19 cluster

It was a letter that arrived sometime on March 25 evening that announced the beginning of a nightmare. The letter, which confirmed the Delhi authorities’ worst fears, landed at New Delhi’s South-East district administration from the district administration of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It stated that all the six patients who had tested positive for novel coronavirus in the islands had one thing in common: they had all returned from a gathering at the Markaz (Centre), the headquarters of the Tablighi Jamaat, a conservative Islamic organisation, in New Delhi. The six of them had attended a large convention with more than 4,500 people from the world over.
The nightmare for the authorities was that all the attendees and their contacts had to now be traced and quarantined to prevent further spread of the deadly virus. Until this information came, India’s efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic were confined to screening travellers who had come from abroad.
