IPL 2020: No comeback for Suresh Raina as CSK removes his name from their official website
'Players List' in the official CSK website doesn't feature the name of Suresh Raina.
Raina had pulled out of IPL 2020 citing personal reasons.
Former India cricketer Suresh Raina shocked his fans when he all of a sudden pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 citing personal reasons. The left-handed batsman was ready for the thirteenth season as he had joined the one-week practice session of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at their home ground in Chepauk before flying to United Arab Emirates (UAE).
After the 7-day training session in Chennai, when CSK contingent reached the Gulf nation, their 13 members, including two players, got COVID-19 positive. As per media reports, this somehow pushed the southpaw to return to India.
However, after returning home, Raina had kept the doors open for an IPL comeback as ‘Chinna Thala’ said that he might return soon. But, now it is confirmed that the 33-year-old won’t return to the UAE as CSK have removed his name from their official website.
Not only Raina, veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh too didn’t feature in the team’s section on the website. Bhajji had also skipped the IPL 2020 citing personal reasons.
We are not thinking about it: CSK CEO on Raina’s return
Earlier, CSK’s CEO Kasi Viswanathan had given hints that the team has moved on from Raina. He confirmed that the management is not thinking about the return of their number three batsman.
“We cannot look at (Suresh) Raina because he made himself unavailable, and we respect his decision and his space. We are not thinking about it,” said Viswanathan while speaking to ANI.
The absence of Raina has impacted CSK’s game as the ‘Yellow Army’ have only won one out of three matches so far. Faf du Plessis, who used to play as an opener for CSK, has been batting at number three. Murali Vijay, on the other hand, is opening the innings along with Shane Watson.
Despite the failures in two games, Viswanathan has promised CSK fans that they would bounce back in the tournament.
“I can assure the fans that we will bounce back strongly. It’s a game, and you have your good and bad days. But the boys know what they need to do and the smiles will be back,” CSK CEO added.
With just one win from three matches, the MS Dhoni-led side is sitting at the seventh spot in the points table. Their next game is against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday (October 2).

Arnab Goswami was left shocked as film producer Shoaib Chaudhary launched a stunning attack against the Republic TV founder by calling him an ‘illiterate.’ This was during a debate on Republic Bharat TV channel over the Sushant Singh Rajput death case and the alleged drug racket in Bollywood.
No sooner had Goswami launched his debate with theatrics, his attention was drawn by Chaudhary, who was seen holding a teacup and a biscuit in his hand. This was in a bid to mock Goswami since one of his representatives, Pradeep Bhandari, had allegedly addressed colleagues from his TV industry as ‘chai biscuit’ reporters. This had prompted other TV representatives to beat Bhandari up in public.
This prompted Goswami to call Chaudhary as jaahil (illiterate). Perturbed by Goswami’s personal attack, Chaudhary began to yell at Goswami as he said, “Illiterate Arnab Goswami. I have never seen a bigger illiterate than you.”
This eld to a brief war of words between Goswami and his guest. Little later, Goswami warned Chaudhary to not take his name as he said, “It doesn;t look nice when you take my name. Don’t you dare take my name.”
The Republic TV founder also launched a tirade against Bollywood stars by making fun of their English. He said, “They say that ‘we are very cool because we converse in English. This is how we speak in English.’ My countrymen, do you know why they think we are illiterates. Because they have become arrogant. They have an arrogance about money, having access to baby Penguin and an army of lawyers, who charge fees in lakhs.”
Goswamy continued with his rant, “In afeemchiyon ko lagta hai (these opium consumers think) that they can manage the government, the NCB and judiciary with the help of money. They think they can buy democracy and judiciary. But, dear druggies, I will not let your plan succeed.”
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu tests positive for COVID-19
He is asymptomatic and has been advised home quarantine.
Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu on September 29 tested positive for COVID-19. He underwent a test for the infection earlier today.
"The Vice President of India who underwent a routine COVID-19 test today morning has been tested positive. He is however, asymptomatic and in good health. He has been advised home quarantine. His wife Smt. Usha Naidu has been tested negative and is in self-isolation," read a tweet on the Vice President's official Twitter account.Earlier this month, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also tested positive for the virus.
