HIGHLIGHTS

  • Virat always says you're the captain of your bowling: Yuzvendra Chahal
  • Yuzvendra Chahal is the only spinner in the list of top five-wicket takers in IPL 2020
  • Whether it's Indian team or RCB, everyone has the liberty to set their own field: Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal has emerged as a key cog for Team India and RCB under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Chahal's skill in crunch situations and his variations have seen the Team India leg-spinner achieve massive success with the national team and RCB in IPL.

Skipper Virat Kohli never shies away from handing the ball to the Haryana spinner be it India or for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), that shows the trust he has in his lead spinner.

When asked about how it is like to play under Virat Kohli, Chahal revealed that the RCB skipper always tells him 'you're the captain of your bowling' and allows every bowler to set his own field in RCB as well as Team India.

"It's been like 6 years now. Virat bhaiya has always been full of confidence," Yuzvendra Chahal said in a press conference

"He always says you're the captain of your bowling whatever field you want, just go with that and if it's not working then we will go for plan B. As a bowler or a youngster, he gives you more confidence.

Yuzvendra Chahal is the only spinner in the list of top five-wicket takers in IPL 2020 till now and he credits Virat Kohli for placing his trust in his bowling plans. Yuzvendra Chahal had inspired RCB's comeback win against SRH in the first match of IPL 2020. Chahal came into his final spell when Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey stitched a solid stand and were 121/2 in 15 overs. However, Chahal dismissed Manish Pandey and in the very next over, he got rid of Bairstow and Vijay Shankar to finish with 3/15. Thanks to Yuzvendra Chahal’s efforts, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 10 runs to get their IPL 2020 campaign off to a positive start.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have made a bright start to IPL 2020 as they have registered two wins in three matches and are currently at fourth position in the points table. RCB will next take on Rajasthan Royals at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, October 3.
