The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is all set to begin the registration for the posts of Constable (General Duty) and Rifleman (General Duty) from 17/07/2021.

The exam is conducted for the selection in the following forces:

  • Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
  •  Border Security Force (BSF)
  •  Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
  •  Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
  •  National Investigation Agency (NIA)
  •  Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)
  •  Secretariat Security Force (SSF) and Assam Rifles


SSC Constable Recruitment Eligibility 2021

SSC GD Constable eligibility are:

  • Nationality – Candidates must be citizens of India
  • Age Limit – Candidates should be aged between 18 and 25 years

  • Educational Qualification – Candidates must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board. Candidates appearing for their qualifying examination (Class 10) are not eligible for the exam


Selection Process: The recruitment process includes a computer-based test, physical standard test, physical efficiency test, and medical examination. The computer-based test is expected to be conducted from 2 to 25 August. Candidates who clear this will be eligible for other rounds.

Q: How many stages does SSC GD Constable exam contain?

A: The SSC GD exam contains four stages - Computer-Based Examination (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST) and medical examination.

Q: Is there any age limit to appear for SSC GD exam?

A: Yes, candidates should be 18-25 years of age in order to be eligible for the exam.

Q: How many times is SSC GD conducted in a year?

A: There is no fixed number of times for the conduct of SSC GD exam. The SSC GD notification is usually released based on the vacancies intimated by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to the commission. 

Q: How many vacancies are released for recruitment through SSC GD exam?

A: SSC GD Constable 2021 vacancies have not been released yet. In 2018, the Commission had released a total of 60,210 SSC GD vacancies for constable and rifleman posts in different forces. 

Q: What is the application fee for SSC GD exam?

A: Candidates need to pay Rs 100 as an application fee for the exam. Women of all categories and SC/ST/ex-servicemen candidates are exempted from application fee payment.

A.Candidates after selection are entitled to a salary of Rs 21,700-69,100.

A.Candidates must have completed Class 10.

Q. What is the qualifying cut off for CBE?

A.The cut off marks of CBE is 35 per cent for General, 30 per cent for SC/ST/OBC/EWS and 25 per cent for ESM categories.

Q. How many candidates are shortlisted for PE&MT/PET/PST?

A.The number of candidates shortlisted for PET/PST on the basis of merit in CBE is usually 10 times the number of vacancies.

Q. How the final allocation of candidates is done?

A.The final allocation of candidates is done based on the performance of candidates in the CBE. PST/PET and medical examination (if applicable) are qualifying in nature.
