Water Resource Department Assam Recruitment 2021:

Applications are invited from Indian citizens as defined in Article 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India for filling up of the following posts of Assistant Engineer (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Civil) in Water Resources Department, Govt. of Assam under Regulation 3(f) of the Assam Public Service Commission (Limitations of Functions) Regulation, 1951. 


Water Resource Department Assam Recruitment 2021:


1. Assistant Engineer (Civil)

No of posts: 63 [UR: 45, SC: 4, STP: 7, STH: 2, EWS: 5, RFW*=20]

Pay: Rs. 30,000/- to Rs. 1,10,000/- PM (PB-4) with Grade Pay of Rs.12,700/- PM

Age Limit:
 The candidates should not be less than 21 years of age and not more than 38 years of age as on 01-01-2021.

Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable as mentioned below
By 5 years for SC/ST candidates i.e. up to 43 years.
By 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates i.e. up to 41 years.
For Persons with Disability (PWD) by 10 years


Educational Qualification:

B.E or equivalent degree regular Full Time course in Civil Engineering obtained from any institute approved by the AICTE and recognized by the Government.

Apart from English, the candidate should have adequate knowledge of at least 1(one) Official language of the State of Assam (i.e. Assamese/Bengali/Bodo) except candidates belonging to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council.


2. Junior Engineer (Civil)

No of posts: 37 [UR: 19, OBC/MOBC: 5, SC: 7, STP: 4, EWS: 2, RFW*=8]

Pay: Rs. 14,000/- to Rs. 60,500/- PM (PB-2) with Grade Pay of Rs.8,700/- PM

Age Limit: 
The candidates should not be less than 21 years of age and not more than 38 years of age as on 01-01-2021.

Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable as mentioned below

By 5 years for SC/ST candidates i.e. up to 43 years.
By 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates i.e. up to 41 years.
For Persons with Disability (PWD) by 10 years


Educational Qualification:

Candidate must pass 3 (three) years regular Full Time Diploma course in Civil Engineering from any institute recognized by AICTE.

Apart from English, the candidate should have adequate knowledge of at least 1(one) Official language of the State of Assam (i.e. Assamese/Bengali/Bodo) except candidates belonging to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council.


Other Criteria of Water Resources Department Recruitment


Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens as defined in Article 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India.

Domicile: The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam. For proof of permanent residence, the candidate or his/her parents must be a voter of Assam. The voter ID card of the candidate or his/her parents will be treated as proof of permanent residence.


Selection Process of Water Resources Department Recruitment


Screening/ Shortlisting: 
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of merit as per academic performance.

Methodology of recruitment:
 Due to the current pandemic situation, a contact-less process of selection purely based on academic performance from HSLC to Degree for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) and HSLC to Diploma for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil) will be followed. 


1. Assistant Engineer

  • HSLC or equivalent: 10%
  • HSSLC or equivalent: 20%
  • Degree in Civil Engineering: 70%
  • In case of the candidates who have completed the degree in Civil Engineering through lateral entry after completing Diploma in Civil Engineering their 20% weightage shall be calculated on the basis of marks/percentage obtained in Diploma and not on the basis of marks obtained in HSSLC or equivalent, irrespective of whether they have passed HSSLC or equivalent examination or not.

2. Junior Engineer:

  • HSLC or equivalent: 20%
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering: 80%
